Abstract:

This research investigates the nutraceutical effects of the whey Zonar and of a concentrate obtained by lyophilisation from the whey Zonar (CpZ) on experimentally induced diabetes mellitus (DZ) in Wistar rats by the ip. administration of the Streptozotocin and Nicotinamide. The experiment has been perfomed on 30 adult mice Wistar rats, divided into 6 lot (n=5). Following a twelve-hours fasting, there were administrated to the group 4, 5 and 6 the Nicotinamide (dose=100 mg/kg i.p) dissolved into a cold salted solution. After 15 minutes, there was administrated the streptozotocin (50mg/kG i.p) mixed beforehand with a standard buffer solution 0,1 M (pH = 4,5). Immediately after the injection, the drinkable water was replaced by 10 % sugar over 24H, to fight against post-injection low sugar-blood rate. The study consisted in a daily follow-up of general state, body weight, food behaviour and glycaemia rate of the animals, all in 5 weeks. This experiment ended with the euthanasia of the rats, under the ether-induced narcosis. Plasma has been sampled to determine the insulin and haemoglobin concentration. This experiment has been approved by the Bioethics commission of USAMV Cluj-Napoca (Decision Nr. 49/28.02.2017) and by the DSVSA Cluj (authorisation Nr. 49/30.03.2017).
